How To Draw A Cursive L

A cursive capital L is the more difficult of the two to master. The lowercase cursive l is easy to write and is similar to multiple other cursive letters like capital cursive I.

Cursive b's also connect to the letter u in many words. Some of these include:

After you become comfortable with writing the letter l in cursive, practice writing "le" together as well as "lu." These are called "connectors" and will help you understand how cursive works to form words.

Writing an Uppercase L in Cursive

As you see in the diagram (above), begin the capital L barely below the top line and to the left. Take your stroke slightly to the right and up to the top line. Make the usual loop, then take your stroke back down to the bottomline, and make a small loop on the right side of the letter. Take your stroke out to the right, creating the tail, to either end the letter or connect to your next letter.

Writing a Lowercase l in Cursive

Begin your stroke just below the midline of the paper you're using. Take your stroke all the way to the top line. From the top line, make a loop coming down the right side of the letter,making a loop. Take that stroke all the way to the bottom line, then end your initial stroke with a small tail for the letter to connect to the other letters in the word.
